Open Door

Postby CESantos » Mon Jul 09, 2018 10:51 pm

I am constantly leaning against the door of my J230 SP and it comes open. In flight, it is very difficult for me to secure it. You must press down on the door, pull it in and latch it. Difficult when you're almost sitting right up against it.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution?

I guess all Jabs are built slightly differently, but in my Jabs, it would be extremely difficult to push the door open (not impossible) without extreme force applied to it without pulling the handle. It certainly would not just pop open by leaning against it. The latch goes right into the pillar by at least a cm or so.

I did change my top latches. On my SPL-450 it used to have the latches where you have to bend the door down slightly for them to go in. I changed them to the push-up clips so you can close the door normally and then push the plunger up. The door can still be opened from the outside by pulling open the handle and then pulling very firmly on the door so fine for emergencies.

I would check the main latches as they should go in sufficiently to stop the door opening with a fair amount of force against it.

This is the plunger type lock I converted the doors to:
